Budget Session Sets Course For Viksit Bharat 2047; PM Modi Tells Parliament

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday said the Budget Session of Parliament marks a decisive step towards realising the vision of Viksit Bharat 2047, underlining the Centre’s focus on reforms, long-term solutions and sustained economic momentum.

Addressing the media at the start of the session, the Prime Minister said the government has ‘boarded the Reform Express’ and is steadily accelerating reforms aimed at performance and transformation.

He stressed that the coming 25 years would be critical in shaping India’s future role in the global order, noting that one-fourth of the 21st century has already passed.

Referring to the President’s address to Parliament, PM Modi said it reflected the aspirations and confidence of 140 crore Indians.

He expressed confidence that Members of Parliament would act responsibly and contribute constructively during the session.

The Prime Minister also highlighted progress on the India–European Union Free Trade Agreement, describing it as a reflection of an ambitious and self-reliant India.

He said the agreement would open significant opportunities for Indian manufacturers, farmers and professionals, while urging industry to focus on quality as markets expand.

Reform, Technology and a Human-Centric Approach

PM Modi praised Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman for presenting the Union Budget for the ninth consecutive time, calling it a notable moment in parliamentary history.

He said India has emerged as a beacon of hope and a centre of global attention due to its democratic strength and economic potential.

Emphasising governance priorities, he said the government is addressing long-pending issues through predictable, long-term solutions to build international trust.

While advocating greater adoption of technology, he reiterated that development would remain human-centric and rooted in constitutional values.

Concluding his remarks, the Prime Minister said India’s democracy and demography continue to inspire global confidence, with the country moving forward through timely action rather than delays.
