Delhi Police responded to an email threat targeting the Ministry of Home Affairs office in North Block, Delhi. A bomb disposal squad, accompanied by fire tenders, rushed to the scene following the alert.
The threat, received via email, prompted swift action from authorities. An unidentified police officer informed PTI that the Delhi Fire Service was alerted after a North Block officer received the ominous message.
Presently, extensive searches are underway, with no suspicious findings reported thus far, as stated by the officer.
This incident adds to a concerning trend of hoax bomb threats across the national capital, affecting schools, airports, hospitals, and correctional facilities. Similar threats have also been reported in Jaipur, Lucknow, Kanpur, and Ahmedabad.
Following a recent evacuation of 150 schools due to a hoax bomb threat, the Delhi Police launched an investigation. The threat, allegedly originating from a mail.ru server, claimed the presence of explosives on Delhi school premises.
Authorities suspect these hoax threats may have ties to Budapest and intend to collaborate with Hungarian counterparts for further inquiries. The threatening email, sent from ‘sawariim@mail.ru’, is associated with a Russian domain, posing challenges in tracing the sender’s identity.
In response to the heightened security concerns, the Delhi government issued advisories urging educational institutions to remain vigilant and monitor official communications closely.
Efforts to apprehend those responsible for these malicious threats are ongoing, with Interpol’s assistance being sought to track down the perpetrators.”
