Tension gripped the airport this morning after a bomb threat was reported on an Air India plane. The threat turned out to be a hoax, but a note on a tissue paper found in the plane’s toilet created initial alarm.
The incident began around 7:30 a.m. when the pilot of the Mumbai-Thiruvananthapuram Air India plane reported a bomb threat to the authorities. This led to a full alert at the airport. The bomb squad and emergency services were promptly deployed.
The plane landed safely around 8 a.m. and was immediately moved to an isolated area. All 136 passengers and crew members were evacuated without incident. Bomb experts then boarded the aircraft to conduct a thorough search.
Initially, authorities were puzzled about how the pilot had learned of the threat. The investigation, led by Kerala Police, revealed that a handwritten note on tissue paper had been discovered in the plane’s washroom during the flight. The note falsely claimed that a bomb was on board, which prompted the emergency response.

The police are now working to identify who wrote the note and to determine the motive behind it. They are interviewing passengers and crew as part of their investigation. Meanwhile, the airport has returned to normal operations.
Authorities have thoroughly screened the aircraft’s baggage and cargo. Passengers have not yet been allowed into the arrival lounge.
The preliminary assessment by the police suggests that the note was likely placed during the flight. The investigation is ongoing, and further details will be provided as they become available.
