Bollywood’s finest turned out in full force to attend the swearing-in ceremony of Devendra Fadnavis as the Chief Minister of Maharashtra on Thursday.
The event at Mumbai’s Azad Maidan saw a star-studded presence, with icons like Shah Rukh Khan, Salman Khan, Sanjay Dutt, Ranbir Kapoor, Ranveer Singh, Rohit Shetty, Vidya Balan, and Madhuri Dixit in attendance.
Salman Khan and Shah Rukh Khan, both dressed in formal attire, shared a warm embrace at the venue, sending fans into a frenzy. The two stars, whose film ‘Karan Arjun’ recently re-released in theaters, showcased their iconic camaraderie.
Ranbir Kapoor sported a white kurta-pyjama with a jacket, while Ranveer Singh opted for an all-black Indo-Western ensemble with his signature half-tied hair.
The swearing-in ceremony marked a significant political shift, following the Maharashtra Assembly elections held on 20 November.
The BJP-led Mahayuti alliance emerged victorious, securing 230 out of 288 seats.
The alliance, which includes the BJP, Shiv Sena (Eknath Shinde faction), and the Nationalist Congress Party (Ajit Pawar), decisively defeated the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) alliance, which won only 46 seats.
Devendra Fadnavis returned to the Chief Minister’s position after five years, following his earlier tenure as Deputy CM.
Negotiations over the CM’s post had kept the political scenario in suspense, with discussions ongoing among alliance partners.
Despite the excitement, the swearing-in was set against a backdrop of extreme temperatures.
Mumbai experienced its hottest December day in 16 years, with temperatures soaring to 37.3°C on Wednesday, following a recent dip to its coldest levels in eight years.
The intense heat posed a challenge to those at the event, but it did not dampen the spirits of the attendees.
