BJP Slams Karnataka Deputy CM’s Proposal To Rename Ramnagar District

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has vehemently criticized Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar’s proposal to rename Ramnagar District to Bengaluru South, accusing the Congress of displaying animosity towards Hindus and showing disregard for Lord Ram.

In a scathing statement issued on Wednesday, BJP National Spokesperson Shehzad Poonawalla condemned the move, alleging that it is a part of Congress’ agenda to appease the real estate lobby while disrespecting Hindu sentiments.

Poonawalla asserted, “The Congress has a long history of questioning the existence of Lord Ram and obstructing the construction of the Ram temple. They have previously advocated for the reconstruction of the Babri Masjid, and recently, Rahul Gandhi claimed victory over the Ram Janmabhoomi movement through the INDIA bloc alliance. Now, they are conspiring with Deputy CM DK Shivakumar in Karnataka to rename Ramnagar District.”

Accusing the Congress of harboring deep-seated animosity towards Lord Ram and Hindus in general, Poonawalla added, “The Congress has gone to the extent of labeling Hindus as a violent community, denying the existence of Lord Ram, and maligning Sanatan Dharma as a ‘disease’. Their rhetoric of Hindu terrorism is well-documented, and now, their attempt to rename Ramnagar District further exposes their skewed mentality.”

The BJP spokesperson concluded by denouncing the proposal as a reflection of the Congress party’s divisive tactics and urged the people of Karnataka to oppose any move that undermines cultural and historical identities.

The controversy surrounding the renaming proposal underscores ongoing tensions between the BJP and Congress over religious and cultural issues, highlighting broader political divides in the region.
