US President Donald Trump’s remarks on resuming trade negotiations with India and his public praise for Prime Minister Narendra Modi have sparked widespread appreciation from Indian political leaders, who called the move a sign of strengthened bilateral relations and global respect for India’s leadership.
BJP MLA Ram Kadam stated, “The entire world has recognised Prime Minister Modi as a great leader over the last eleven years. A week ago, President Trump referred to him as a great leader, and now he is calling India a great nation. This is a matter of immense pride for 140 crore Indians.”
Bihar Minister Jibesh Mishra also expressed admiration for the development, saying, “This was inevitable. Narendra Modi is the world’s most popular leader. A leader with both principles and integrity gains global recognition — and that is what the Prime Minister has achieved.”
RLD Spokesperson Malook Nagar also echoed these sentiments, focusing on policy implications, “This clearly indicates that both nations are on a path to resolving trade and tariff issues constructively.”
In a post on his social media platform, Truth Social, President Trump said, “I am pleased to announce that India, and the United States of America, are continuing negotiations to address the Trade Barriers between our two Nations. I look forward to speaking with my very good friend, Prime Minister Modi, in the upcoming weeks.”
Responding via X (formerly Twitter), Prime Minister Modi reaffirmed the strength of the bilateral relationship.
“India and the US are close friends and natural partners. I am confident that our trade negotiations will pave the way for unlocking the limitless potential of the India-US partnership. Our teams are working to conclude these discussions at the earliest. I am also looking forward to speaking with President Trump. We will work together to secure a brighter, more prosperous future for both our people,” he posted.
The announcement marks the revival of trade negotiations that had previously stalled due to tariff disagreements.
Trump’s latest message indicates a shift towards a more cooperative stance, with both sides preparing for high-level discussions to ease long-standing trade tensions.
This development reinforces India’s growing role in global diplomacy and economic policy.
As both nations move forward with renewed cooperation, the strengthening of Indo-US trade ties is expected to bring significant benefits, from market access to shared innovation, setting the stage for a new chapter in bilateral relations.
