BJP Launches Aggressive Campaign For Delhi Elections; Targets AAP

As the battle for Delhi heats up ahead of the 5 February elections, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has launched an assertive campaign aimed at the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP).

On Thursday, the Delhi BJP unveiled a series of posters and social media campaigns criticizing the AAP government’s performance and positioning itself as the only party capable of addressing the city’s issues.

“Now, Delhi’s air will also be clean, and every household will have access to safe drinking water because BJP is coming to power in Delhi,” one poster stated.

Accusations Of BJP Against AAP

The BJP has accused the AAP government of mismanagement in key sectors.

The party criticized AAP’s governance, labeling it as ‘Aap-da for Delhi’, asserting, “In the rain, Delhi turns into a city of lakes; Mohalla Clinics have turned into clinics of deaths; AAP promised schools but opened bars instead; less medicine, more alcohol; The capital is parched for clean drinking water, while pothole-riddled roads endanger lives; Garbage mountains have sprung up in the streets since AAP-controlled MCD took charge.”

The BJP however has vowed to address these problems, promising to replace AAP’s governance with more efficient administration.

One of the posters highlighted the advantages of a ‘double-engine government’, emphasizing that a BJP-led government at both the Centre and in Delhi would accelerate the city’s development.

The post asserted, “Delhi’s development will gain momentum when there is a double-engine government. Dilli ke dil mein Modi.”

In the previous Assembly elections of 2015 and 2020, the AAP, led by Arvind Kejriwal, won decisively. In both elections, the BJP secured only a handful of seats, while Congress did not win a single seat.

The Delhi Assembly elections will take place on 5 February, and the votes will counted on 8 February.

As Delhi’s elections approach, the AAP is campaigning for a third consecutive term, while the BJP is intensifying its efforts to change the political landscape.

Congress, which did not secure any seats in the last Assembly elections, is also in the fray, aiming to challenge both the BJP and AAP.

Despite its alliance with AAP during the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, Congress is now contesting independently.
