Congress General Secretary K.C. Venugopal has firmly rejected claims of a conspiracy by the BJP and JD-S to destabilize the Karnataka government. He criticized Governor Thaawarchand Gehlot’s show cause notice to Chief Minister Siddaramaiah over the Mysuru Urban Development Authority (MUDA) land scam, calling it “unfortunate.”
Venugopal defended Siddaramaiah, emphasizing his commitment to public service and integrity. He asserted that people of Karnataka respects Siddaramaiah’s values.
Venugopal accused the BJP and JD-S of trying to undermine the gov due to its successful guarantee schemes for the poor. He claimed that these schemes threaten the opposition’s political interests, leading them to create controversies and destabilize the government.

He labeled the Governor’s actions as indicative of BJP influence and alleged that issuing notices to the Chief Minister is an attempt to create instability. Venugopal dismissed the BJP’s corruption claims as hypocritical, pointing out legal issues involving BJP state President B.Y. Vijayendra and jailed former JD-S MP Prajwal Revanna as evidence of the opposition’s own problems.
He assured that any genuine legal issues would be addressed through proper channels and reaffirmed Congress’s commitment to supporting the poor. Venugopal also criticized the Central government for its inadequate support in the recent Union Budget.
Pledging that Congress would remain united and fight against attempts to destabilize the government, Venugopal accused the BJP of having a history of toppling state governments. He cited the 2018 Congress-JD-S coalition’s downfall as an example of their tactics.
Venugopal announced that Congress ministers and legislators would visit their constituencies to directly communicate the government’s achievements and counter opposition claims. The party aims to inform the public about the benefits of their guarantee schemes and respond to efforts to disrupt them.
