Bihar’s Gopalganj Gripped by Tension as Priest is Shot Dead, Eyes Brutally Gouged Out

In a tragic incident in Bihar’s Gopalganj district, a priest was fatally shot and his eyes were brutally gouged out. The police made this grim discovery as the victim’s body was found in the bushes late yesterday evening. Officials revealed that the priest, identified as 32-year-old Manoj Kumar, had been missing since Monday night, with the last known sighting being his departure from the Shiva temple in Danapur village around midnight.

Adding to the brutality of the crime, the police noted injuries on the victim’s private parts. Manoj Kumar’s brother, Ashok, is a former BJP worker, further deepening the implications of the incident.

Following the recovery of Manoj Kumar’s body, the village witnessed clashes as locals voiced accusations of police negligence. Tensions escalated, resulting in two policemen sustaining injuries during clashes with villagers who staged protests on the national highway and threw stones at law enforcement. A police vehicle was also set ablaze during the unrest.

In response to the rising tensions, Manoj Kumar’s family had filed a missing complaint on Tuesday, prompting the police to launch a search operation to locate him.

Pranjal, the Sub-Divisional Police Officer in Gopalganj, assured that the situation in the village is now under control, with an ample police force deployed to prevent any further untoward incidents.
