Bihar CM Samrat Choudhary Unveils Maa Sita Medical College Plan At Janaki Mahotsav

Bihar CM Samrat Choudhary inaugurated the grand Janaki Mahotsav at Punaura Dham on the occasion of Janaki Navami. A large number of devotees and residents attended the celebrations.

On this auspicious day, the Chief Minister announced that the under-construction medical college in Sitamarhi will be named ‘Maa Sita Medical College’. The declaration drew strong applause from the gathering.

Addressing the audience, CM Choudhary expressed deep devotion and said he considers his elevation to office a blessing of Goddess Sita. He offered prayers at the sacred temple, believed to mark her birthplace, and described it as a symbol of faith, culture, and heritage.

The Bihar CM, however, reaffirmed the government’s commitment to developing Sitamarhi as a key religious and tourism hub.

The state is advancing the construction of a grand temple and a modern corridor at Punaura Dham. CM Choudhary reviewed these projects with senior officials to ensure timely execution.

The Centre has already announced the Ram-Janki Ramayan Corridor linking Ayodhya and Sitamarhi.

A 256-km railway doubling project worth Rs 4,563 crore and a new expressway will further strengthen connectivity between the two pilgrimage centres.

The Bihar government has also planned to acquire 50 acres of land to upgrade tourism infrastructure around the temple.

Earlier, the Chief Minister visited key religious sites, including Hanuman Temple, Rajvanshi Nagar, Takht Sri Harimandir Sahib, Harihar Nath Temple, and Baidyanath Dham, reflecting his continued focus on spiritual outreach.

Festive and cultural programmes marked the day, reinforcing the site’s religious significance and growing national prominence.
