Amid Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s sharp criticism of the Mamata Banerjee-led West Bengal government during a public rally in the Malda district on Saturday, the Bharatiya Janata Party’s state unit released a video song on social media amplifying his call for a change of regime in the state ahead of the Assembly elections scheduled this year.
The video, launched soon after the Prime Minister’s address, positions itself as a campaign pitch highlighting alleged failures of the ruling Trinamool Congress while projecting the BJP as an alternative for governance in West Bengal.
Titled ‘Paltano Dorkar Chai BJP Sarkar’, the song carries scathing lyrics set to a thumping tune. It narrates a series of developments in the state in recent times, including the RG Kar rape and murder tragedy, riot-like situations in several pockets, allegations of rampant corruption across multiple sectors, and the overall economic backwardness of West Bengal.
The video repeatedly stresses the central slogan, ‘Paltano Dorkar Chai BJP Sarkar’.
A portion of the Prime Minister’s speech has also been incorporated, in which he is heard calling for a change of regime in West Bengal in the interest of the state’s progress.
The closing segment of the video lists the BJP’s promises of social, economic and industrial development in West Bengal under what it describes as a corruption-free administration if the party comes to power after the Assembly polls.
Prime Minister Modi will likely address another rally on Sunday at Singur in Hooghly district, the site of the Tata Motors Nano car project that failed to take off following a violent movement against land acquisition led by the Trinamool Congress when it was in the Opposition.
The Prime Minister’s visit to West Bengal assumes added significance both administratively and politically, with the Assembly elections due later this year.
On December 20, 2025, he had addressed a public meeting in Taherpur in Nadia district virtually after dense fog prevented his helicopter from landing. During that address, he had promised to return to the state soon.
