Bihar is renowned worldwide for its exquisite craftsmanship and painting traditions. The ‘Mithila painting’ of the Mithila region and the silk industry of Bhagalpur stand out as major contributors to Bihar’s cultural legacy. Additionally, the ‘Patna Kamal’ painting, depicting life in Bihar, has garnered widespread recognition. This year, Shanti Devi from Bihar was honored with the Padma Shri award, adding to the state’s artistic acclaim.

Furthermore, Bihar’s musical heritage is celebrated, with Hindustani classical music and Magahi folk singing enjoying popularity across the country. Notably, the legendary Shehnai player, Bharat Ratna Bismillah Khan, hailed from Bihar.

Religiously, Bihar holds significant importance as the birthplace of Buddhism. Gaya, Bihar, holds a special place in Buddhist history as the site where Buddha attained enlightenment under the Bodhi tree.

The ‘Badhta Bihar’ conclave seeks to celebrate and explore these facets of Bihar’s rich cultural heritage, showcasing the state’s contributions to art, music, and spirituality on a global scale.
