Defense Minister Rajnath Singh, in the closing ceremony, mentioned the occasion when he had seen ‘Janata Raja’ staged for the first time in Mumbai in 2005. He said, “There was a national convention of our party then. The very next day I saw ‘Janata Raja’ staged in Mumbai, I was announced as the national president of our party.”
Rajnath Singh said, “I was told that in the areas around Maharashtra, ‘Janata Raja’ means wise king, and when wise kings are mentioned in India, how can anyone forget the name of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj? Through this folk drama, we also get to see the form of an ideal ruler. Through this, we also see Chhatrapati’s dream of Hindavi Swaraj. But at the same time, a glimpse of Ramrajya is also visible in his state.”
On the occasion of the 350th year of the establishment of Hindavi Swaraj, the grand drama ‘Janata Raja’ based on the life of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj was staged at Janeshwar Mishra Park in Lucknow on October 26 and ended on Tuesday (October 31). Till now, it has been staged approximately 1200 times across the world.
