Bharatiya Janata Party today appointed new chiefs in many states as it prepares for the significant elections of 2024 and important state elections this year.
Bandi Sanjay Kumar has been replaced as the party’s leader in election-bound Telangana by MP and federal minister G Kishan Reddy. Etela Rajender, a BJP state legislator who previously served as Telangana’s first finance minister, has been chosen to head the party’s state election management committee for the 2018 assembly elections. His political career began with the K Chandrashekar Rao-led Bharat Rashtra Samithi, where he remained till 2021 before joining the BJP.
The Telugu Desam Party founder’s daughter and former chief minister of Andhra Pradesh, Daggubati Purandeswari, has been named the president of the Andhra Pradesh BJP.
The party in Punjab will be led by Sunil Kumar Jakhar, a former MP who defected from the Congress in May of last year, saying he wanted to support “nationalism, unity, and brotherhood in Punjab.”
