Union Minister Kiren Rijiju shared a Facebook post after addressing the Bharat Express Urdu Conclave on Journalism. He attended ‘Bazm-e-Sahafat’ at the India International Centre in New Delhi.
Rijiju highlighted Urdu journalism’s rich tradition. He said it informs communities and gives them a voice.
The conclave brought together political leaders, journalists, editors and education experts. They discussed Urdu journalism’s evolving role in the digital age.
Rijiju was joined by former Union Minister Shahnawaz Hussain and former MP Shahid Siddiqui.
Radheshyam Rai, Director and Group Managing Editor of Bharat Express News Network, attended the programme.
Dr Shams Equbal, Director of the National Council for Promotion of Urdu Language, Ministry of Education, Government of India, was present at the conclave.
Dr Khalid Raza Khan, Editor of Bharat Express Urdu and Convenor of the conclave, participated in the event.
Professor Dr Shahid Akhter, Officiating Chairman of the National Commission for Minority Educational Institutions, Ministry of Education, was among the participants.
In his Facebook post, Rijiju said, “Urdu journalism has a rich tradition of informing, connecting & giving voice to communities. Platforms like Bazm-e-Sahafat provide an important space to discuss its evolving role, embrace new opportunities & strengthen its contribution to India’s diverse media landscape.”
