Barapullah Phase-III: Amit Shah Inaugurates Elevated Corridor Linking East, South Delhi

Union Home Minister Amit Shah inaugurated the Barapullah Phase-III elevated corridor in Delhi on Tuesday. The new corridor provides a key signal-free route between East and South Delhi.

Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, Public Works Department Minister Parvesh Sahib Singh, Minister Kapil Mishra and other Delhi leaders attended the inauguration.

The corridor connects Mayur Vihar Phase-I in East Delhi with Sarai Kale Khan and integrates with the existing Barapullah elevated road. The combined network now extends to around 9 km.

The project will improve connectivity for commuters travelling from Mayur Vihar, Noida and nearby areas. It will provide easier access to Sarai Kale Khan, AIIMS and South Delhi.

The elevated route allows motorists to bypass several traffic signals and congested stretches.

Authorities expect travel time between East Delhi and AIIMS to fall from around 35-40 minutes to nearly 15 minutes, depending on traffic conditions.

The Phase-III corridor forms part of the wider Barapullah network, which seeks to strengthen east-west connectivity and provide alternative routes towards central and southern parts of the capital.

The new stretch is expected to improve traffic movement for commuters travelling between Delhi and Noida. Its integration with the existing corridor should further streamline movement along the route.

The inauguration comes as Delhi expands its elevated road network to address congestion and improve urban mobility.

The project is part of a broader infrastructure push in the capital.

On Tuesday, Shah inaugurated the Mukarba Chowk underpass and launched foundation work for additional road projects.

The combined developments are, however, valued at more than Rs 1,900 crore.
