Bagurumba Dwhou 2026 Showcases Cultural Pride And Unity, Says PM Modi

Prime Minister Modi reflected on his participation in the Bagurumba Dwhou 2026 event held in Guwahati on January 17. He described the programme as a landmark celebration of Assam’s rich indigenous culture and community strength.

PM Modi highlighted the presence of over 10,000 members of the Bodo community, who performed traditional dances in perfect coordination. He said the massive participation reflected great cultural pride and collective identity.

The event took place at Sarusajai Stadium, transforming it into a vibrant canvas of tradition and colour.

Bagurumba, a graceful folk dance inspired by the movements of a butterfly, holds deep meaning for the Bodo people.

The Prime Minister said the dance symbolises harmony with nature, balance, and cultural continuity. He praised the performers for safeguarding their cultural heritage and showcasing it on a modern national platform.

Prime Minister Modi said the event marked the first time performers presented Bagurumba on such a large scale. He called the event historic for Northeast India.

PM Modi said the programme demonstrated how local traditions achieve national and global recognition with the right platform.

Video Highlights Capture Grand Celebration

The Prime Minister shared details of a 10-minute video capturing the highlights of the celebration.

The visuals showed thousands of dancers dressed in striking red and orange attire. The clip featured a laser show, fireworks, and synchronised choreography that illuminated the stadium.

Prime Minister Modi addressed the gathering and spoke about cultural pride and unity. He said India’s strength lies in its diversity. He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to promoting regional cultures across the country.

PM Modi added that indigenous traditions deserve visibility, respect, and institutional support.

The Prime Minister underlined that such initiatives strengthen national integration. He said cultural recognition empowers communities and inspires younger generations. He stressed that festivals like Bagurumba Dwhou bridge tradition with aspiration.

The event marked a growing national acknowledgement of Northeast India’s cultural heritage.

PM Modi concluded that celebrating indigenous art forms is essential to building an inclusive and confident India.
