The 12-year-old gang-rape victim from Ayodhya underwent an abortion at Queen Mary’s Hospital, King George’s Medical University (KGMU), Lucknow, on Tuesday.
Security tightly controlled the procedure, and officials sent the fetal sample for DNA testing to aid the ongoing investigation.
Sources report that the victim’s condition remains stable and doctors expect to discharge her from the hospital soon.
The DNA test results will play a crucial role in identifying the perpetrators of the heinous crime.
This development follows a high-profile case that has elicited widespread condemnation.
Doctors referred the victim from Ayodhya District Hospital to KGMU after her health deteriorated. Police closely supervised the girl’s admission to the Lucknow hospital on Monday.
The case involves serious allegations against Samajwadi Party leader Moid Khan and his employee Raju Khan, who face accusations of raping the young girl.
The duo allegedly enticed the girl with promises of a job at their bakery and subsequently recorded the assault.
The crime was discovered when the victim reported abdominal pain to her family, leading to the revelation of her pregnancy.
According to the complaint, the accused abused the victim over a span of two months and issued threats to ensure her silence.
Following their arrest, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath addressed the issue in the state Assembly, vowing that no perpetrators would escape justice.
The district administration has taken significant actions in response, including demolishing Moid Khan’s bakery and conducting a raid by the Food Safety Department, which resulted in the seizure and sealing of goods from the accused’s establishment.
Samajwadi Party President Akhilesh Yadav has called for a DNA test to expedite the identification of the culprits, emphasizing the need for a thorough investigation to bring those responsible to justice.
