On Monday morning, Ayodhya witnessed a massive influx of devotees at the Ram Temple, overwhelming the city’s police and administrative systems.
By 4 AM, the situation worsened, with thousands of vehicles coming to a standstill 25 kilometers from the city, causing frustration and distress among passengers.
The roads leading to key religious sites, including the Ram Temple, Janmabhoomi Path, and Hanuman Garhi, were packed beyond capacity.
Limited police deployment and growing congestion led to tense moments, with some devotees breaking through barricades in desperation.
Despite government efforts to widen roads and upgrade infrastructure, Ayodhya’s narrow streets remained gridlocked.
The overwhelming crowd made navigation nearly impossible, as every passageway filled with devotees.
This rush follows a pattern observed earlier in the week, when large numbers of pilgrims arrived after taking a holy dip at Prayagraj on Mauni Amavasya.
By dawn, chants of ‘Jai Shri Ram’ echoed across the city as the influx continued.
Estimates suggest around 65 lakh devotees have arrived in Ayodhya within the past 96 hours, straining the city’s resources.
Senior officials are actively monitoring the situation, conducting overnight inspections to manage the surge.
Many pilgrims have made their way directly from Prayagraj, driven by deep devotion.
This isn’t the first instance of such an overwhelming crowd.
Around Republic Day, Ayodhya saw over 25 lakh devotees visit Ram Lalla within just 30 hours.
