Australian Prime Minister first India Trip Starts With Sabarmati Ashram In Ahmedabad

After landing in Ahmedabad on his first visit to India, Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese spent Wednesday at the Sabarmati Ashram, a location closely connected to Mahatma Gandhi.

Mr. Anthony Albanese tweeted, “A true privilege to pay homage to Gandhi’s legacy at Sabarmati Ashram in Ahmedabad”, through his official Twitter handle.

The Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese was welcomed at the airport by Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, who also accompanied the visiting leader during the Ashram tour.

Australian PM celebrates holi at Raj Bhavan

As per schedule shared by authorities, the Australian leader attended a Holi programme at Raj Bhavan later in the evening.

“Honoured to celebrate Holi in Ahmedabad, India. Holi’s message of renewal through the triumph of good over evil is an enduring reminder for all of us”, he added in another tweet.

“No matter what your faith is or where you’ve come from—we celebrate and value what unites us”, tweeted in another tweet. He wished, “Happy Holi to everyone who celebrated at home in Australia”.

Mr. Albanese also attended an event of an Australian University at a five-star hotel. He tweeted, “Our educational ties with India are about to get even closer. We’ve finalised a deal that means students who study in Australia and India can have more of their qualifications recognised between our two countries”, in his latest tweet.

“@Deakin University will also become the first foreign university approved to open a campus in India – with more Australian universities hoping to join them. This is an exciting beginning for stronger educational, commercial and cultural relationships”, he added in another tweet.

Both the prime ministers will watch the first day of the fourth cricket Test match between India and Australia beginning at the Narendra Modi Stadium on Thursday.

Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese is on a four day trip to India. The trip follows a series of high-level meetings and a ministerial visitation exchange between the two nations in 2022 and 2023.
