Atiq Ahmed’s Son Asad Buried In Prayagraj, Father Failed To Attend; WATCH His Last Rites Here

The mortal remains of gangster-turned-politician Atiq Ahmed son’s Asad Ahmed was finally buried at the family’s Kasari Masari kabristan (graveyard) in Uttar Pradesh’s Prayaraj for his last rites today after he was killed in an encounter by the UP Police Special Task Force on Thursday.

The 19-year-old, along with one of Atiq’s close aides named Ghulam Hasan was gunned down in Jhansi after an intense police hunt of 45 days. Both the deceased carried bounties of Rs 5 lakh each on their heads and were accused in the Umesh Pal murder case.

Additional commissioner of police Akash Kulhary said it was the family’s decision to directly bring the body of Asad to the Kasari Masari graveyard.

Asad was buried in Prayagraj

Asad Ahmed has been buried at the Kasari Masari graveyard where other relatives including his grandparents were buried. His grave has been dug beside the grave of Atiq’s father Feroz Ahmad. People including Atiq’s sister Shaheen Begam were present.

Atiq could not attend his son’s burial

Moreover, the don-turned-politician, Atiq’s lawyers also reached the graveyard to request that the burial process be halted till the district court of Prayagraj opens to hear the jailed politician’s application to be allowed to take part in the last rites of his son, however, this cannot happen.

Meanwhile, Atiq’s close aide, Ghulam’s body also reached Mehendauri graveyard in Prayagraj for burial.

Security tightened

Amid the last rites of Asad, security personnel are kept on high alert and entry was restricted inside the Kasari Masari graveyard. Barricading has been placed in Chakia and people were asked to go to their homes.

During his last rites, barely two dozen people have been allowed to attend the burial. Officials are also using drones to keep a vigil near the graveyard. Security personnel are also video-recording the scene.

Also, the rituals before the burial, which were usually performed at home, were carried out at the graveyard.
