A man was killed in a landslip in Assam’s Dhirenpara on Saturday morning, amid the state’s relentless rainfall.
According to the reports, a guard wall of a sweets-making plant collapsed, killing Mukhtar Ali, who was working at the facility at the time of the incident and was subsequently discovered trapped beneath the wreckage.
According to locals, the guard wall collapsed on the small business unit located on Sonali Path in the Dhirenpara neighborhood.
Following the incident, the Guwahati municipal police and State Disaster Response Force rushed to the location and recovered the body.
This year, Assam is seeing its first wave of flash floods. Continuous rain is inundating new areas across 11 districts, and affecting over 34,000 people.
According to the Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA) daily flood report, most rivers, including the Brahmaputra, have rising water levels in various places, but none are flowing above the danger mark.
