Ashwani Sharma Thanks Yogi Adityanath For Sending 1,000 Quintals Of Wheat Seeds To Flood-Hit Punjab Farmers

Punjab BJP Working President Ashwani Sharma on Tuesday extended heartfelt thanks to Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath for dispatching 1,000 quintals of wheat seeds to assist farmers affected by floods in Punjab.

Welcoming the move by the Uttar Pradesh government, Sharma said that when floods ravaged Punjab’s farmlands and left cultivators without seeds, CM Adityanath showed deep concern and took a prompt and compassionate step to help those in distress.

In a display of humanitarian spirit and social responsibility, the Uttar Pradesh government decided to send 1,000 quintals of high-quality wheat seeds to aid the affected farmers.

These seeds, Sharma said, will be distributed free of cost to enable farmers to resume sowing and restore their livelihoods.

BB-327 Variety to Boost Yield

The wheat variety sent by CM Adityanath, BB-327, known for being disease-resistant, bio-fortified, and nutrient-rich, maturing in about 155 days with a yield potential of up to 80 quintals per hectare, he added.

He further noted that this variety would provide significant support to Punjab’s farmers in recovering from the crop losses.

Sharma recalled that during an event held in Delhi, Punjab’s Agriculture Minister Gurmeet Singh Khuddian had highlighted the extensive damage caused by the floods and the acute shortage of seeds, following which CM Adityanath made this generous decision.

“This initiative reflects the Uttar Pradesh government’s sensitivity toward farmers and sets a shining example of humanity and inter-state cooperation, where compassion crossed borders to share Punjab’s pain,” Sharma said in his statement.

He further added that the move also reinforced Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s assurance, made during his visit to flood-hit areas, to extend every possible help from the Centre.

Sharma, in a statement, stated, “This step not only reflects the government’s sensitivity and foresight towards farmers but also sets a remarkable example of humanity and inter-state cooperation — where compassion transcended borders to share the pain of farmers.”

He added that by dispatching these seeds, the Uttar Pradesh government reaffirmed Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s pledge to extend full central assistance to the flood-affected regions following his visit.

“This clearly shows that the BJP stands firmly with every disaster-affected citizen of Punjab, whether it be through relief materials, financial support, or rehabilitation efforts,” Sharma noted.

Concluding his remarks, Sharma asserted, “Together, we will empower, self-sustain, and bring prosperity to our farmers.”
