Asaduddin Owaisi Challenges Amit Shah’s Commitment to Backward Classes

AIMIM President Asaduddin Owaisi criticized the BJP for not conducting a “Backward Classes caste census” despite their recent promises to support the Backward Class (BC) community in Telangana. This criticism came in response to Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s announcement that a BC leader would become Chief Minister if the BJP won the November 30 assembly polls.

Owaisi, addressing a public meeting in Zaheerabad, referred to the BJP and Congress as twins, suggesting that they won’t be successful in the Telangana assembly polls. He questioned Amit Shah’s commitment to the BC community, asking why a BC census had not been conducted.

Owaisi also claimed that neither PM Narendra Modi nor Congress leader Rahul Gandhi supported his demand for a sub-quota for Other Backward Classes (OBC) and Muslim women in the women’s reservation bill.

He mentioned former MLA Komatireddy Raj Gopal Reddy’s return to Congress from BJP and wondered whether Congress had become a “washing machine.” Owaisi also challenged Rahul Gandhi’s comments about AIMIM having a tacit understanding with the BJP, pointing out Rahul’s loss in Amethi in the 2019 elections.

Owaisi appealed to support ‘mamu’ (BRS President and Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao) where AIMIM was not contesting, highlighting the importance of regional parties in addressing people’s issues. This statement reflects the political dynamics and debates in Telangana ahead of the assembly polls.
