Arvind Kejriwal
Prior to the release of exit poll results, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal confidently projected a significant victory for the INDIA bloc in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. Kejriwal anticipated that the coalition would secure over 295 seats, indicating a substantial lead over its competitors. He further asserted that the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) would fall short of the majority mark, with only around 220 seats in their favor.
Kejriwal emphasized that the INDIA alliance would emerge victorious, forming a robust and stable government independently. He noted that the selection of the alliance’s prime ministerial candidate would occur following discussions scheduled for June 4.
Following a meeting among leaders of the INDIA alliance, Congress representative Syed Naseer Hussain expressed confidence in the bloc’s electoral performance, asserting that they would surpass the crucial threshold of 272 seats needed for a majority in the Lok Sabha. Hussain reiterated their commitment to participating in the debate surrounding exit poll results.
CPI General Secretary D Raja disclosed plans for the INDIA bloc to convene with the Election Commission to ensure vigilance during the vote counting process. Raja reiterated expectations of a landslide victory, projecting over 295 seats for the coalition.
In Maharashtra, Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Anil Desai anticipated the party securing between 30 to 35 seats in the state.
Meanwhile, Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge echoed Kejriwal’s optimism, predicting that the INDIA alliance would secure at least 295 seats. Kharge highlighted the failure of the BJP’s ambitious “400 paar” (crossing 400 seats) narrative, suggesting that their electoral ambitions had fallen short from the outset.
