Arvind Kejriwal Faces Legal Action For Derogatory Comments On People Of Bihar, UP

A complaint was lodged against former Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal in Patna Civil Court on Monday, following his alleged derogatory remarks about the people of Uttar Pradesh (UP) and Bihar.

The remarks, made on January 9, have sparked widespread outrage among the residents of these two states.

Kejriwal Insults Bihar & UP People

The complaint was filed by advocate Bablu Kumar under Section 356 of the Bhartiya Nyay Sahita (BNS). According to Kumar, Kejriwal’s statement insulted the dignity and emotions of people from both Bihar and Uttar Pradesh.

“The complaint was filed because Kejriwal’s remarks have hurt the sentiments of people from these two states,” Kumar stated.

The case is scheduled to be heard in the Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM) Court on January 21.

Legal Action Against Kejriwal

Advocate Rishikesh Narayan Singh, who is representing the case, emphasized that Kejriwal’s comments were a deliberate insult to the people of Bihar and UP.

“We have filed this complaint in the Patna Civil Court, demanding an apology from Kejriwal. His statement was not only inappropriate but also caused emotional and social harm to the people of both states,” Singh remarked.

This complaint is part of a growing controversy surrounding Kejriwal, as a total of 11 cases have been filed against him for similar remarks.

Contribution Of Bihar & UP People To Kejriwal’s Political Career

Advocate Singh also pointed out the significant role that people from Bihar and UP played in Kejriwal’s political rise. “The people of these states worked hard and voted to form Kejriwal’s government. Despite their contributions, he used indecent language against them, which is unacceptable,” Singh asserted.

Singh further emphasized the legal implications of Kejriwal’s statements under Section 356 of the BNS.

“The language used by Kejriwal is offensive and indecent. Under Section 356 of BNS, such statements can lead to two years in prison and a fine. Kejriwal must apologize to the people of Bihar and UP, as well as to the entire nation,” Singh concluded.
