The accused, identified as Prakash, worked at a mobile repair shop in Anna Nagar and was incarcerated after a complaint was lodged against him at the MKB Nagar police station. Prakash confessed to targeting over 100 women so far during the inquest. The surveillance cameras installed in many areas aided in tracking him down.

Two women, who became a victim of his groping, approached the MKB Nagar Police station and filed a complaint against the unknown man who escaped after conducting the atrocious act. Subsequently, the police checked the surveillance cameras of the vicinity which led to the arrest of Prakash, a resident of Vyasarpadi.
