An army training aircraft suddenly lost stability in the air and crashed into a pond located in the heart of Prayagraj city.
Eyewitnesses reported that residents rushed to the scene and successfully rescued three individuals. It remains unclear how many personnel were on board at the time of the crash.
The incident occurred near KP College during the afternoon. Residents immediately informed the police and local administration, prompting the fire brigade and rescue teams to rush to the site.
Authorities are currently on location evaluating the situation and coordinating further rescue efforts.
The aircraft crashed into a pond next to the Vidyavahini School. Army helicopters are conducting the rescue operation.
Vidyavahini School’s children were engaged in practical exercises when the aircraft appeared overhead. Witnesses described a bright red signal followed by an extremely loud noise. Moments later, parachutes were seen deploying as the aircraft descended into the pond.
Local students recalled the frightening sound and said it sounded like a rocket. We were on the school campus when we heard it. We ran towards the source and saw people trapped in the water.
Several residents jumped into the pond to help, successfully rescuing three army personnel. All three rescued individuals were wearing uniforms at the time of the accident.
According to eyewitnesses, the aircraft had been approaching from the direction of the fairground area.
Rescue operations continue, with teams ensuring that no one else remains trapped and the area is safe for further investigation. Authorities have also started examining the circumstances that led to the aircraft losing control mid-air.
The administration has emphasised ongoing monitoring and safety precautions near training flight zones to prevent similar accidents. Rescue operations are expected to continue until the aircraft is fully recovered and the affected personnel receive necessary medical attention.
