Army Ready For Ground Operations Under Operation Sindoor: Gen Dwivedi

Indian Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi on Tuesday said the Army remains fully prepared for ground offensives if Pakistan commits any ‘mistake’.

He said the Army mobilised its personnel during Operation Sindoor and continues to maintain a high state of readiness.

Addressing the Indian Army’s annual press conference in New Delhi, Gen Dwivedi said Operation Sindoor remains ongoing, and any future misadventure will invite a resolute response.

“As long as Operation Sindoor continues, our eyes and ears will remain open,” he said, adding that the Army has already taken all necessary measures.

Gen Dwivedi said India made strong progress in national security in 2025, with Operation Sindoor demonstrating preparedness, precision, and strategic clarity.

He noted that rising global conflicts reward nations that stay ready and described the operation as a calibrated response to cross-border terrorism that resets deterrence.

On the north-western front, he said the situation remains stable but demands constant vigilance, adding that high-level engagement and confidence-building measures have helped restore normal activities along the northern borders.

He added that India’s deployment along the Line of Actual Control remains balanced and robust, while capability development and infrastructure upgrades continue through a whole-of-government approach.

Speaking about the Western Front, the Army Chief recalled India’s response to the Pahalgam terror attack, stating that the leadership took a clear decision to respond decisively.

He said Operation Sindoor was executed with precision, with strikes initiated on May 7 and operations continuing for 88 hours until May 10.

The Army destroyed seven of nine targets and helped calibrate responses to Pakistani actions.

Gen Dwivedi praised the coordinated role of CAPFs, intelligence agencies, state administrations, and ministries, calling Operation Sindoor a model of tri-service synergy under clear political direction.
