Army Officer Martyred, Four Terrorist Gunned Down In J&K’s Doda

An Intense exchange of fire between security personnel and terrorist in Doda district of Jammu and Kashmir led to the Martyrdom of an army officer and killing of 4 terrorists on Wednesday.

In the encounter operation against terrorist in the valley, a captain of Indian army from 48 Rashtriya Rifle embraced martyrdom. However, the sources reveal that 4 terrorists have also been gunned down during an ongoing encounter operation.

The operation took place in Akar forests bordering between Udhampur and Doda districts, where Captain Deepak embraced martyrdom.

“He suffered gunshot injuries due to firing by terrorists and was evacuated to hospital. However, the captain succumbed to serious injuries and made the supreme sacrifices for the nation,” sources revealed.

Earlier, the security forces informed the about one terrorist sustaining injury.

The anti-terrorism operation was launched on Tuesday evening in Akar forests near the Patnitop tourist resort bordering between Udhampur and Doda districts.

Firing exchanges started on Wednesday morning after the security forces located the hiding terrorists in the forest area.

Till July 21 this year, terrorists killed 28 people including army, security forces and civilians in 11 such hit-and-run attacks while the security forces carried out 28 anti-terrorism operations.

Expressing condolence on the demise of Captain Deepak Sign, White Night Corps made an X post. In the X post it said that it stands strong with the bereaved family.

Rajnath Singh holds meeting following Captain’s Martyrdom

On Wednesday morning, defence minister Rajnath Singh convened a meeting on the rising terror-related incidents in Jammu and Kashmir ahead of the 78th Independence Day.

Earlier on August 10, two soldiers and a civillian were killed during a gunfight in Anantnag district. The encounter had broke out during a joint operation launched by the Indian Army, Jammu and Kashmir Police and CRPF.

According to officials, the captain, who was martyred, was leading the charge at Shivgarh Dhar in Assar in Doda.
