To boost scientific research in country, Prime Minister Narendra Modi chairs first board Meeting of newly formed Anusandhan National Research Foundation. ANRF is to act as a central body to lead research and development work across the country.
Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan and government’s principal scientific advisor, Ajay Kumar Sood including other senior officials were present in the meeting.
The foundation aims to seed, grow and promote research and development (R&D) and foster a culture of research and innovation throughout India’s universities, colleges, research institutions, and R&D laboratories.

The Anusandhan National Research Foundation Act of 2023 established ANRF. ANRF will act as an apex body to provide leadership to research and development work in accordance of New Education Policy and achieve the goal set by NEP.
It is important to note that the Science and Engineering Research Board (SERB) established by an act of Parliament in 2008 is now subsumed into ANRF.
ANRF will forge collaborations among the industry, academia, and government departments and research institutions, and create an interface mechanism for participation and contribution of industries and State governments in addition to the scientific and line ministries.
