Amit Shah’s Three-Day Bihar Tour To Focus On Seemanchal, Border Security

Union Home Minister Amit Shah will begin a three-day visit to Bihar on Wednesday to review security arrangements, administrative preparedness, and development initiatives in border districts, particularly along the India-Nepal frontier.

Senior officials from the Union Home Ministry accompanying Shah are expected to hold consultations with top state authorities on factors behind reported demographic changes in the Seemanchal region and measures to address them. The visit is being viewed as significant in light of what the government has described as a population imbalance in certain areas.

According to the itinerary, Shah will arrive in Purnea at 4 p.m. on February 25 before travelling by helicopter to Kishanganj. He is scheduled to chair a review meeting at the Collectorate from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. and will stay overnight in Kishanganj.

On February 26, he will travel to Araria to attend a programme at the Letti border outpost at 11 a.m. He will then convene a high-level meeting with Superintendents of Police and district officials from border areas to assess issues concerning the India-Nepal border.

The same day, Shah will participate in an event under the Vibrant Villages programme before returning to Purnea for an overnight stay. On February 27, he will hold further meetings in Purnea before departing for New Delhi.

Focus On Infiltration And Development

The Seemanchal region is expected to be central to the discussions, with emphasis on bolstering border security and addressing infiltration concerns. The tour is seen as a key follow-up to the Home Ministry’s ‘Naxal-Mukt Bharat’ initiative, with particular attention on making Seemanchal “infiltrator-free”.

Authorities have made elaborate security arrangements for the visit.

During the previous Bihar Assembly elections, Shah had alleged attempts to build a vote bank through illegal immigrants in the region and asserted that the NDA government would not permit such practices. He had said that every infiltrator would be identified and deported and that illegal activities would be brought to a complete halt.
