Amit Shah Vows Support For Naxal Violence Victims To Rebuild Lives With Dignity

Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Thursday highlighted the Centre’s efforts to rehabilitate people with disabilities caused by Naxal violence in Chhattisgarh, stressing that the government would help affected families rebuild their lives with dignity.

Addressing a ceremony via video conferencing under the Seva Sankalp Abhiyan, Shah said the initiative forms part of nationwide service programmes marking Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s 25 years in public service as Chief Minister and Prime Minister.

The Minister welcomed efforts to identify tribal people who lost limbs, hearing or eyesight due to Naxal violence and provide them with artificial limbs and other assistive devices. He further appreciated the Chhattisgarh government and institutions supporting the campaign.

Shah expressed confidence that these initiatives would usher in a new era of hope in Bastar.

Recalling the Bastar Olympics, Shah said thousands of youths now participate in sports and preserve local traditions in a region once plagued by violence. He shared a beneficiary’s story of drinking water independently after three years, describing it as deeply moving.

Shah said around 8,526 Naxalites had surrendered, while nearly 7,500 people received bank accounts, 782 incentives, 455 jobs and 129 land allotments.

Under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, 2,014 families received homes, while over 2,300 tribal youths received skill training.

The government issued 6,700 ration cards, provided electricity to 2,800 families, launched 372 road projects and began building 670 bridges. It issued Aadhaar cards to 48,526 people.

Shah said over 500 security camps would become development centres offering healthcare, education, jobs, fair prices for forest produce and free foodgrains. He stressed that ending Naxalism would not erase decades of suffering and pledged support to help victims rebuild their lives with dignity.
