Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Sunday unveiled a 21-foot-tall statue and grand memorial dedicated to former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee in Nimbhera, Rajasthan.
The Minister inaugurated and laid foundation stones for development projects worth Rs 6,453 crore across the state. These included 944 projects worth Rs 5,755 crore across 15 districts, along with other projects covered through e-foundation and e-inauguration ceremonies.
Shah recalled Vajpayee’s contribution to nation-first politics, good governance and development, while highlighting progress in tribal welfare, water supply and Rajasthan’s overall development under Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
BJP workers spent more than Rs 1.5 crore to establish the statue, which they unveiled on August 16, Vajpayee’s death anniversary.
From Alwar, Shah launched projects across 17 districts worth Rs 6,453 crore. These included the foundation stone for a new Alwar Saras Dairy plant with a capacity of three lakh litres per day and the inauguration of four dairy projects worth Rs 274 crore.
Under the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana, Rs 152 crore was transferred to farmers, while more than Rs 667 crore was transferred under the Mukhyamantri Kisan Samman Nidhi through Direct Benefit Transfer.
The programme saw 10,548 young people receive appointment letters under Rozgar Utsav.
Shah recalled Vajpayee’s journey from an RSS pracharak and Bharatiya Jana Sangh worker to Parliament. He further noted that voters elected Vajpayee from Balrampur at the age of 33.
The Minister highlighted Vajpayee’s nearly four decades in Opposition, his commitment to nationalism and his tenure as India’s first non-Congress Prime Minister.
Shah credited him with making India a nuclear power after the Pokhran tests, expanding roads through the Golden Quadrilateral and establishing a separate Ministry of Tribal Affairs.
