Amit Shah To Chair NCORD Meeting; Unveil Anti-Drug Vision 2026-2029

Union Home Minister Amit Shah will chair the 10th apex-level meeting of the Narco-Coordination Centre (NCORD) in New Delhi on Friday to review and strengthen the country’s efforts against drug trafficking and substance abuse.

Organised by the Ministry of Home Affairs and the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB), the meeting will bring together representatives from Central Ministries, state governments and law enforcement agencies to enhance coordination in tackling the drug menace.

Shah will unveil the Narcotics Control Vision Document 2026-2029, which outlines measures to curb drug trafficking, tackle synthetic drugs and darknet networks, and strengthen awareness, treatment and rehabilitation. He will also release the NCB Annual Report 2025, inaugurate new NCB zonal offices in Jammu and Guwahati, and launch the Online Drug Disposal Fortnight Campaign to destroy around 2,09,500 kg of seized narcotics worth nearly ₹6,000 crore.

According to the Ministry of Home Affairs, the meeting aims to reinforce the Centre’s zero-tolerance policy against drug trafficking and advance the vision of a ‘Drug-Free India’. It will also review ongoing anti-narcotics efforts and set priorities for the next three years.

Earlier, on the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking, Shah extended his greetings to those engaged in the fight against drugs.

In a post on X using the hashtag #NashaMuktBharat, the Minister said India, under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, has intensified its crackdown on narco-cartels while supporting individuals affected by substance abuse with care and rehabilitation. He also reaffirmed the government’s commitment to protecting the country’s youth from the menace of drugs.
