Amit Shah To Attend BS Yediyurappa’s ‘Abhimanotsava’ Event In Karnataka

Karnataka BJP President BY Vijayendra announced that the ‘Abhimanotsava’ function recognising former Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa will take place from 2 PM to 5 PM on May 9.

The programme will take place in Chitradurga. Organisers have revised the schedule from its earlier morning slot.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah will likely attend the celebration, lending it national importance. Vijayendra described the occasion as a tribute to Yediyurappa’s long-standing service, portraying him as a determined leader who has consistently supported farmers and marginalised communities.

The organisers are preparing for a significant turnout, with expectations of over 10 lakh attendees. Transportation arrangements include nearly 10,000 buses, along with tens of thousands of cars and other vehicles.

Vijayendra stated that enthusiasm for the event has been exceptionally strong, with many religious figures and supporters likely to participate.

The programme has been shifted to the afternoon in view of another political engagement scheduled earlier in the day. Although there were initial plans to personally invite seers from across the state, time constraints limited outreach efforts.

Vijayendra nevertheless called upon spiritual leaders and religious heads throughout Karnataka to attend and bless the gathering.

Former Deputy Chief Minister and MP Govind Karjol said the occasion would celebrate Yediyurappa’s journey in a cultural format.

Two publications, Kendavare: A Flower that Bloomed in the Lotus and A Hunter in the Assembly, highlighting his life and legislative contributions, are slated for release during the event.

A ceremonial procession marking Yediyurappa’s arrival in the city will take place on the evening of May 8. The organisers are planning the procession as a large cultural showcase, featuring participation from 24 folk troupes.

The celebrations invite citizens to attend and contribute to their success.

Vijayendra also conveyed his grief over the passing of former BJP state secretary Jagadish Hiremani. He acknowledged Hiremani’s contributions as a dedicated worker of the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad and his active involvement in organisational activities.

Vijayendra expressed his sympathies and prayed for strength for the bereaved family.

The ‘Abhimanotsava’ is likely to underscore Yediyurappa’s enduring influence in Karnataka politics while also showcasing the organisational strength of the BJP in the state.

The programme aims to combine political recognition with cultural expression, attracting widespread participation.
