Union Home Minister Amit Shah will hold a series of public meetings in Khagaria, Munger, and Bihar Sharif today as Bihar moves into high election gear ahead of the upcoming Assembly polls.
According to his itinerary, Shah is likely to begin the day’s campaign with a rally in Khagaria at 11 AM, followed by another event in Munger at noon, before concluding the day with a public address in Bihar Sharif at 3 PM.
To facilitate the smooth conduct of these events, the district administration has issued several traffic and security guidelines.
Movement of both heavy and light vehicles will remain restricted on key routes leading to the Labour Welfare Centre grounds, where one of Shah’s major gatherings is scheduled.
Shah’s visit comes a day after his fiery address in Siwan on Friday, where he sharply criticised RJD leader Lalu Prasad Yadav and the Mahagathbandhan, accusing them of wanting to ‘restore the era of Jungle Raj’ in the state.
The Minister said he deliberately chose Siwan for his first major campaign event because of its historical and political relevance.
“Lalu Yadav has proven by giving a ticket to Shahabuddin’s son that he wants to bring back the ‘Jungle Raj’ to Bihar. The people of Siwan know very well how Shahabuddin drenched this land in blood with 75 heinous murders. By nominating his son, Lalu Yadav wants to intimidate the people again. This clearly shows that the Mahagathbandhan wants to take Bihar back into the darkness of lawlessness, while the NDA, by fielding Anand Mishra (Retired IPS), is leading the state towards good governance,” Shah stated at the rally.
Expressing optimism about the ruling alliance’s chances, Shah said the NDA, under Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, would return to power after the November 14 elections.
He reminded the audience of Siwan’s difficult past, saying, “The people of Siwan suffered immensely during the Jungle Raj but never bowed down. They ended that dark rule once, and today I want to assure them — this is Modi and Nitish’s Bihar. Even if a hundred Shahabuddins come, they can’t harm anyone now.”
Shah also lauded Nitish Kumar, noting, “The end of Jungle Raj is Nitish Kumar’s biggest contribution. He freed Bihar from fear and lawlessness.”
Paying tribute to Siwan’s heritage, Shah asserted, “This land is the land of Rajendra Babu (Dr Rajendra Prasad), India’s first President and Chairman of the Constituent Assembly. Mahatma Gandhi and Madan Mohan Malaviya also visited Siwan during their Champaran journey. I bow to this sacred soil.”
