Amit Shah Releases Adi Shankaracharya Granthavali At Literary Event In Ahmedabad

HM Amit Shah on Thursday attended a special literary event in Ahmedabad during his visit to Gujarat.

The Sastu Sahitya Mudranalaya Trust organised the programme, drawing scholars, writers and cultural figures.

At the ceremony, Shah formally released the Adi Shankaracharya Samagra Granthavali, a comprehensive collection of Adi Shankaracharya’s writings.

Eminent Sanskrit scholar Gautam Patel edited the volume, which brings together philosophical, religious and logical works in one authoritative compilation.

Addressing the gathering, Shah said Adi Shankaracharya’s writings continue to guide society beyond spiritual thought. He said the texts offer deep insights into logic and philosophy, and Shankaracharya’s ideas remain relevant today.

Shah also underlined the importance of discipline and punctuality in public life. He said the timely completion of any work enhances its value and impact.

Recalling his involvement with the trust, Shah said he had insisted on completing the library project within the stipulated timeframe. He expressed pride that the trust fulfilled the task as promised.

Reflecting on Shankaracharya’s teachings, Shah highlighted the universality of knowledge. He said no single language or medium limits learning. Knowledge, he added, flows endlessly and transcends boundaries.

Shah praised Gautam Patel, saying the Granthavali and the trust’s library will remain enduring centres of learning. He noted that future generations would benefit immensely from these intellectual resources.

Tribute to Bhikshu Akhandananda

Union Home Minister Amit Shah paid tribute to Bhikshu Akhandananda, founder of the Sastu Sahitya Press. He credited Akhandananda with shaping Gujarat’s literary and cultural growth.

Shah said the visionary reformer sparked an intellectual movement by making quality literature available at affordable prices.

Concluding his address, Shah emphasised the need to preserve India’s literary and cultural heritage. He said books reflect the nation’s true identity and protecting them remains a shared responsibility.

The event revived Ahmedabad’s literary spirit and reinforced its enduring cultural legacy.
