Amit Shah Orders Survey Of Villages Lacking Basic Amenities In Gandhinagar

Union Home Minister Amit Shah directed officials to identify villages in Gujarat’s Gandhinagar district lacking basic civic amenities and submit a report. He chaired a meeting of the District Development Coordination and Monitoring Committee (DISHA) in his Gandhinagar Lok Sabha constituency.

Deputy Chief Minister Harsh Sanghavi attended the review meeting.

Members of Parliament and MLAs attended the meeting along with the District Collector and the District Development Officer.

Presidents of district and taluka panchayats, municipal representatives and officials from various departments also participated in the discussions.

Shah instructed officials to survey villages without household gas connections, toilets, drinking water, irrigation facilities and electricity. He asked them to submit a detailed report to facilitate swift implementation of development measures.

Shah reviewed the implementation of the Central Government’s flagship schemes. He directed officials to identify landholding farmers and ensure every farmer owns at least two livestock animals.

Considering the delayed monsoon, Shah directed officials to prepare a contingency plan and survey rain-fed areas.

Shah directed the education department to create cluster schools to reduce girls’ secondary school dropout rates.

Amit Shah also directed officials to promote newly established libraries. He asked them to connect these libraries with the district’s main library to encourage reading among students.

Shah also reviewed the Chief Minister Gram Sadak Yojana. He directed officials to include hamlets with at least 35 houses and electricity connections after clarifying the definition of a village.

The Minister also ordered officials to issue Ayushman Bharat PMJAY cards to every senior citizen aged 70 years and above without delay.

District Collector Ravindra Khatale opened the meeting with an address before the district administration presented ongoing development initiatives and future plans.

The Ministry of Rural Development constituted the DISHA committee to monitor Central Government schemes and review district-level development programmes.
