Amit Shah Opens DGP-IGP Meet; Calls It ‘Portal Of Solutions’ For India’s Security

Home Minister Amit Shah inaugurated the 60th DGP-IGP Conference at IIM Naya Raipur and called it a transformative ‘portal of solutions’. He said the platform strengthens India’s internal security framework under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership.

“Under the leadership of Modi Ji the conference has been shaped as a portal of solutions to internal security, laying broad principles for strategising and policy making. The mettle of our police forces is evident in the success India has achieved in the last 11 years in its operations against radicalisation, extremism, insurgency and narcotics,” he said on X post-inauguration.

Accompanied by National Security Advisor Ajit Doval, Ministers of State for Home Nityanand Rai and Bandi Sanjay Kumar, Intelligence Bureau Director Tapan Kumar Deka, and Home Secretary Govind Mohan, Home Minister Shah highlighted the conference’s role in reviewing policing hurdles and charting a roadmap for ‘Viksit Bharat’.

Deliberations from November 28-30 stressed precision intelligence and agency synergy to counter cybercrime, LWE, border incursions, and crime. He urged authorities to launch a comprehensive crackdown on narcotics and to deny traffickers not even an inch of space, supporting the national goal of a drug-free India.

Home Minister Shah presented Police Medals for meritorious service and awarded trophies to the nation’s top three police stations.

Stations-

Kolkata’s Park Street Women’s Police Station (First), Indore’s Aerocity Police Station (Second), and Surat’s Sarthana Police Station (Third). These awards recognised exemplary community policing and crime prevention.

Additionally, the event brings together over 300 top police officers from states, Union Territories, and central forces for deliberations.

Moreover, Prime Minister Modi will arrive after engagements in Karnataka and Goa to chair business and valedictory sessions in Chhattisgarh.

Discussions will include LWE eradication in Bastar, where violence has plummeted 70 per cent since 2014. It will also include the implementation of new criminal laws.

Security agencies, including SPG, NSG, CRPF, and state forces, backed by drone surveillance, placed Raipur under multi-layered protection, showcasing Chhattisgarh’s rising security stature.

Home Minister Shah’s second social media post on X praised the day’s exchanges: “Today, in the DGsP/IGsP Conference reiterated the significance of accuracy of intelligence, clarity of objectives, and synergy in action to shield the nation from new age threats. The discussions held in this Conference would help in preparing a Roadmap for Policing towards ‘Viksit Bharat’.”

This second Chhattisgarh-hosted edition highlights the state’s shift from Maoist violence to a model of internal security governance.

As PM Modi wrote on X: “After two very special programmes in Karnataka and Goa, landed in Chhattisgarh to take part in the DGP/IGP Conference being held in Raipur. There will be extensive interactions with top officials on ways to strengthen India’s security apparatus.”

The conclave concludes on Sunday, with outcomes expected to shape national policing policies amid rising geopolitical tensions.
