Amit Shah Launches Museum In Vadnagar; Highlights 2,500 Years Of Heritage

On Thursday, Union Home Minister Amit Shah inaugurated an archaeological experiential museum in Vadnagar, Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s hometown, situated about 100 km north of Ahmedabad.

The museum showcases the 2,500-year-old history of the town, known for its continuous habitation.

Shah also inaugurated the Prerna Centre, a new facility aimed at inspiring the younger generation in leadership. The centre, located next to the century-old Vernacular School where PM Modi studied, aims to guide future students toward leadership roles.

In addition, a sub-district level sports complex was also unveiled. The museum, built at a cost of Rs 300 crore, stands as the only one in India displaying fresh archaeological excavations.

Visitors will be able to view trenches that reflect centuries of cultural sequences, with the museum set to open to the public in February, according to state museum department officials.

During his speech, Shah stated, “The museum, envisioned by PM Modi, has not only placed Vadnagar but also the culture of Gujarat and the entire country on the world map. Vadnagar is one of the oldest cities of India and we have evidence of about 2,500 years. The museum builders have brought this journey alive.”

“It not only showcases the antiquity of Vadnagar, but also highlights its culture, trade, urban planning, education, and governance during various periods of its history,” he further added.

Shah praised PM Modi as a ‘son of soil’ and predicted that Vadnagar, alongside the ancient Hatkeshwar Mahadev temple and the renowned music-exponent sisters Tana-Riri, will remembered as PM Modi’s birthplace.

Shah recalled that in PM Modi’s early political career when he spoke of India’s cultural revival and nationalism, he and BJP workers wondered how it could become a reality.
