Amit Shah Inaugurates Over 800 PMAY EWS Homes In Ahmedabad; Families Celebrate New Beginnings

Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Sunday inaugurated more than 800 Economically Weaker Section (EWS) houses constructed under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY) in Ahmedabad, reaffirming the Centre’s commitment to ensuring dignified housing for the poor.

Amit Shah also shared images of the ceremony on X, highlighting the completion of 861 new homes built in Ahmedabad’s Thaltej ward.

Taking to X, Shah posted, “These state-of-the-art and amenity-rich houses, constructed by the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation, will serve as a strong foundation for the smooth and secure future of the residents of the area.”

Beneficiaries Express Gratitude

The newly allotted houses brought visible joy to beneficiaries, many of whom have lived in slum clusters for years.

Several families expressed appreciation for receiving a permanent, well-equipped home that marks a major shift in their living standards.

Nikhilesh Ben, among the new homeowners, said, “The government has built good houses and flats, and this has earned us respect in society. I express my heartfelt gratitude to Home Minister Amit Shah and Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel for gifting us a house.”

Another beneficiary, Ranjeet, credited the government’s efforts for transforming his life.

“We have been lifted out of the slum. Thanks to the government’s efforts, I have got the house of my dreams. I never imagined that I would have a permanent roof over my house, but it has become possible. All the basic amenities like Anganwadi, Ayushman Bhawan, and a school for children’s education are available here,” Ranjeet noted.

For Shambhu Bhai, the move marks a major upgrade in living conditions. He shared that he previously lived in a slum but now has a secure, well-designed home.

“The government’s work is truly commendable. All the amenities have been provided within the house, for which we are extremely grateful,” he added.

Nanaji Desai summed up the sentiments of many families when he said, “After nearly 25 years of hard work, we finally have our houses. The houses are very well built, and we are grateful to the government for this.”
