Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh and Union Home Minister Amit Shah held a meeting after all party meet on Manipur clash on Sunday. The development happened day after opposition parties in an all-party meeting in Delhi chaired by Amit Shah echoed calls for the chief minister to be removed from office.
N Biren Singh met Amit Shah at his home for about 45 minutes after arriving in the capital city from Imphal this morning. He informed him of the state affairs in Manipur and the measures taken to restore law and order, according to sources.
On Saturday, Amit Shah convened an all-party gathering with 18 parties to discuss the unrest in Manipur. The all-party delegation suggested of visiting the violence hit state once.
In the course of the lengthy discussion, some parties also called for the immediate removal of the state’s BJP-led chief minister, N Biren Singh, and the declaration of president’s rule.
In a letter to Prime Minister Modi earlier, nine BJP state legislators claimed that the state’s citizens had completely lost faith in the N Biren Singh-led administration. The MLAs told PM Modi in a five-point memo that there was no trust or confidence in the government or the administration.
The meeting was attended by representatives from the BJP, the Congress, the Shiv Sena of Uddhav Thackeray, the Trinamool Congress, the Mizo National Front, the BJD, the AIADMK, the DMK, the RJD, the Samajwadi Party, and the AAP.
