Amit Shah Hails Major Delhi Drug Busts As Agencies Seize Meth Worth ₹262 Crore

Union Home Minister Amit Shah has lauded a breakthrough in India’s ongoing crackdown on narcotics, following the seizure of 328 kg of methamphetamine in New Delhi.

The operation, which led to the arrest of two individuals, is valued at an estimated ₹262 crore and marks one of the most significant drug interceptions in recent months.

In a statement on X, Shah highlighted that the government is dismantling drug networks at an ‘unprecedented pace’. He noted that the latest interception reflects the success of both top-down and bottom-up investigative strategies.

Amit Shah described the operation as a powerful example of seamless coordination between enforcement agencies.

The Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) and the Delhi Police worked jointly to track, intercept and seize the substantial consignment of methamphetamine, demonstrating the increasing efficiency of collaborative policing mechanisms.

He reiterated that such operations align with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of building a drug-free India. He also stressed that relentless efforts are underway to disrupt cartels operating within and beyond Indian borders.

A Step Forward in the War Against Narcotics

Officials said the seizure is indicative of the expanding capabilities of Indian anti-narcotics agencies, both in intelligence gathering and rapid tactical response.

Investigators believe the methamphetamine haul is linked to a wider supply chain. Further investigations are underway to trace its origins and intended distribution network.

The Home Minister extended his congratulations to the joint NCB-Delhi Police team, commending their professionalism and commitment.

The government’s intensified approach includes tightening surveillance, enhancing inter-agency collaboration and dismantling organised criminal networks. Recent operations have demonstrated a shift towards more coordinated and intelligence-driven enforcement.

As India continues to bolster its anti-drug infrastructure, the latest seizure stands as a significant milestone in safeguarding communities and reducing the influence of narcotics syndicates across the country.
