Amit Shah Begins Three-Day Jammu And Kashmir Visit; Reviews Border Security

Union Home Minister Amit Shah reached Jammu late on Thursday, and Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha received him at the airport to begin his three-day visit to Jammu and Kashmir.

During the visit, he will inspect forward areas along the International Border, including the Border Outposts at Gurnam and Bobiya in the Hiranagar sector of Kathua district, and review arrangements made by the Border Security Force to prevent infiltration.

As part of his engagement with the personnel, the Home Minister will e-inaugurate and lay the e-foundation for six welfare schemes for BSF jawans and officers, interact with them on operational matters, and meet the families of martyrs to distribute compassionate appointment letters, acknowledging their service and sacrifices.

Following the border visit, Amit Shah will chair a high-level security review meeting at Lok Bhawan, attended by senior officials from the Ministry of Home Affairs, intelligence agencies, paramilitary forces, and top Jammu and Kashmir police officers, including Chief Secretary Atal Dulloo and DGP Nalin Prabhat.

The review will focus on ongoing anti-terror operations against foreign terrorists in hilly districts such as Kishtwar, Doda, Udhampur, Kathua, Poonch, and Rajouri, while fine-tuning strategies to ensure zero infiltration along the border.

In addition to security matters, the Home Minister will review Jammu and Kashmir’s development initiatives with senior officials and local administration to monitor progress and assess future plans.

Authorities have heightened security across the Jammu region in anticipation of Amit Shah’s visit.

Amit Shah will return to New Delhi on Saturday afternoon after completing a comprehensive assessment of border preparedness, BSF welfare measures, anti-terror operations, and development projects in the Union Territory.

The visit underscores the government’s commitment to safeguarding national security, supporting security personnel, and promoting balanced development across Jammu and Kashmir.
