On Sunday, Union Home Minister Amit Shah urged the people of Manipur to lift the blockades on National Highway-2 so that basic and vital supplies such as food, medicines, and fuel can reach the state.
Amit Shah tweeted, “My sincerest appeal to the people of Manipur is to lift the blockades at the Imphal-Dimapur, NH-2 Highway, so that food, medicines, Petrol/Diesel, and other necessary items can reach the people. I also request that Civil Society Organisations do the needful in bringing consensus. Together only we can restore normalcy in this beautiful state”, through his official Twitter.

Ethnic violence erupted in Manipur on May 3 following a ‘Tribal Solidarity March’ in the hill regions to oppose the Meitei community’s quest for Scheduled Tribe status.
Mr. Shah, who just returned from a four-day visit to Manipur to assess the situation and meet with various stakeholders in a bid to restore calm in the state, also asked civil society organizations to help bring about consensus.
On the final day of his visit, Shah asked all communities and segments of society to maintain peace, hold conversations and promote harmony as well as turn in their firearms to the authorities.
