Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Sunday announced the success of Operation Trident, a coordinated anti-narcotics crackdown that dismantled an international drug-trafficking network operating across Assam, Mizoram and Manipur.
In a post on X, Shah said central agencies and police forces conducted simultaneous raids at 38 locations across the three northeastern states on October 23, leading to 18 arrests and exposing hawala transactions worth ₹100 crore.
The operation resulted in the freezing of 1,424 bank accounts and the attachment of properties worth ₹17.82 crore. Authorities seized 500 detonators and ₹12 lakh in cash.
Modi Govt deals another lethal blow against drugs with Operation Trident.
Our agencies launched a barrage of simultaneous crackdowns across 38 locations in Assam, Mizoram and Manipur on 23 October, smashing an international narco-cartel. The operation revealed ₹100 crore worth of hawala transactions, froze 1,424 bank accounts, attached properties worth ₹17.82 crore, seized 500 detonators and ₹12 lakh in cash, and led to the arrest of 18 people.
The network trafficked narcotics across the borders of India, Myanmar and Bangladesh through the Death Triangle Corridor. The offensive attests to India’s Himalayan resolve to realise the mission of eradicating every drug network by 31 December 2029. India will hammer until the last nail is driven into the coffin of drug cartels.
Heartiest congratulations to the anti-narcotics team comprising central agencies, and police forces of the three states.

Shah said the cartel trafficked narcotics across the borders of India, Myanmar and Bangladesh through the so-called Death Triangle Corridor. He congratulated the anti-narcotics teams, central agencies and police forces of the three states for their coordinated efforts.
The Home Minister described Operation Trident as another major crackdown against drug trafficking under the Narendra Modi government. He said the operation demonstrated the government’s determination to dismantle drug cartels, disrupt their financial networks and eliminate narcotics trafficking.
On October 21, Shah announced an intensified nationwide anti-drug campaign, setting December 31, 2029, as the target for eradicating drug networks across the country. He further warned that narcotics threaten young people, weaken the economy and fund anti-national activities.
Operation Trident marks a significant enforcement action against an alleged cross-border trafficking network, combining arrests, financial investigations and seizures.
Shah reiterated the government’s commitment to pursuing drug cartels and disrupting their operations as part of its mission to achieve a drug-free India by December 31, 2029.
