Amit Shah Accuses Kerala Government Of Corruption & Weak Governance

Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Friday launched a strong critique of Kerala’s Left Democratic Front (LDF) government, accusing it of widespread corruption, compromised governance, and politically motivated attacks on the Centre.

Speaking at the inaugural session of a media event in Kochi, Shah alleged that the state government had become synonymous with scandals, pointing to high-profile cases such as the gold smuggling case, the cooperative scam, and the Exalogic affair.

“The gold smuggling case reached right up to the Chief Minister’s Office,” he said. “Kerala has become mired in scams, and the people are disillusioned with the state of affairs.”

Shah also aimed at the state’s handling of law and order, particularly regarding the now-banned Popular Front of India (PFI). He criticised the LDF for allowing the radical outfit to gain ground across India.

“PFI expanded from Kerala to states like Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, and Gujarat. Had the Modi government not acted, the group would still be operating today,” Shah asserted.

He accused the Kerala government of compromising internal security for political reasons, saying such negligence endangered national stability.

Centre’s Support in Disaster Relief

In response to the Kerala government’s frequent allegations that the Centre failed to provide adequate support during natural disasters, Shah presented a firm rebuttal.

“The PM Modi-led government has always stood with Kerala,” he stated. “Whether during floods or landslides, we released funds on time and provided more assistance than the previous UPA government.”

Shah cited both the National Disaster Response Fund (NDRF) and the State Disaster Response Fund (SDRF) to highlight the Centre’s commitment to Kerala during times of crisis.

The Home Minister’s remarks come in the backdrop of increasing political friction between the BJP-led Centre and the LDF-run state.

As Kerala prepares for the upcoming elections, Shah’s comments are being seen as part of the BJP’s broader strategy to strengthen its foothold in the southern state.

“The people of Kerala want change,” he declared confidently. “They are fed up with the cycle of UDF and LDF. The BJP will offer a credible alternative.”

He concluded by urging voters to reflect on what he described as years of misgovernance, and to ‘choose transparency, security, and development’.
