Amid Indo-Russia love affair, US calls India an indispensable friend

Amid ‘Putin’s repeated praise for India, US officials are also heard admiring the relationship with India as ‘an indispensable partnership’.

Jenet Yellen’s remarks echoes at a time when India has announced in crystal clear words that it would not stop buying Russian oil which is given at a discount. The reason being, this clearly benefits Indian economy, despite the American efforts along with the Western allies towards imposing a price cap on the export of Russian oil.

US Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen is on a visit to India and this is seen at a time when India is set to assume the presidency of the G20. December 01, 2022 is the day when the grouping of the world’s 20 largest economies would meet. India has chosen Lotus for its logo and PM Modi has lately launched it.

Janet Yellen today lauded India’s economic growth that too at at time when the uncertainty is prevailing globally. For India she used a special term showing the proximity of India with the United States of America. During her first visit to the country, US Treasury Secretary called India ‘an indispensable friend to America’.

Yellen’s visit will follow India riding on the waves of assumed presidency of the grouping of the world’s twenty largest economies next month. The las G20 Summit was hosted by Indonesia in Bali this month on the 15th and 16th of November.
