The Allahabad High Court has postponed the hearing on the criminal appeal filed by former Samajwadi Party (SP) MLA Irfan Solanki. The next session for the case will be held on September 18.
Irfan Solanki, who served as the MLA for the Sisamau constituency in Kanpur, has challenged his seven-year prison sentence through an appeal in the Allahabad High Court. The Special Court in Kanpur Nagar handed down the sentence for Irfan Solanki’s involvement in the burning of a woman’s house.

In addition to Irfan Solanki, his brother Rizwan Solanki has also filed an appeal in the same court. Both brothers seek to overturn the sentence and request bail.
The Kanpur MP-MLA court sentenced Irfan and Rizwan Solanki on June 7, 2024, for their role in the arson incident that occurred on November 7, 2022. The case pertains to the destruction of the home of Nazir Fatima, a resident of the Jajmau police station area in Kanpur.
Irfan Solanki, elected on a Samajwadi Party ticket, remains a significant figure in local politics as he continues to seek redress through the judicial system.
